    This wine has a brilliant ruby-red color. On the nose, it exudes aromas of ripe red fruit, cherry, and light spicy notes. On the palate, it is full and velvety, with silky tannins and lovely freshness. The finish is persistent, revealing hints of vanilla and oak, indicative of its aging.

    The grapes used to make Marqués de Riscal wines come from 1,500 hectares spread between Elciego and neighbouring villages such as Leza, Laguardia or Villabuena. The poor soils, located on the various terraces overlooking the Ebro River, are clay-limestone in nature. This sub-zone of Rioja Alavesa is traditionally renowned for producing wines with good aging potential, thanks to the high acidity and good tannic structure of the musts obtained.

    The story of Marqués de Riscal is that of an innovative, pioneering, and leading company in a constantly evolving wine industry. Founded by Don Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga in 1858, Marqués de Riscal was born from a dream.

    Vinification and aging

    The Tapias de Marqués de Riscal takes its name from one of the best plots of land in domaine, Finca Las Tapias; planted in 1968, it presents a unique terroir characterized by clay-limestone soils rich in iron.

    This is a red wine reminiscent of those the house produced in its early days, while displaying a certain Bordeaux influence in its winemaking methods.

    With its strong identity, Tapias is distributed through the Bordeaux wine market. This represents a true return to the roots for the winery's marketing, as Marqués de Riscal was already being sold through the Bordeaux wine market more than a century ago.
