The Felton Road vineyard stretches across sunny slopes, benefiting from excellent drainage thanks to its varied soils. Planted on substrates of glacial sediments and schist, the vines draw their strength from this unique terroir. The continental climate, with its significant temperature variations, promotes a slow and balanced ripening of the grapes, allowing the full expression of Pinot Noir's typicity. Each plot is carefully cultivated, respecting natural cycles and fostering biodiversity.

Owner and history

Felton Road is run by Blair and Rachael Walter, two wine enthusiasts who have turned their dream into reality. Their philosophy is based on sustainable and responsible viticulture, incorporating biodynamic practices to promote the health of the soil and vines. They are also actively involved in the local community, participating in environmental conservation initiatives. Thanks to their vision and expertise, Felton Road has established itself as a key player in New Zealand winemaking, offering wines of exceptional quality.

Vinification and aging

The Felton Road - Block 3 Pinot Noir is made using a traditional, artisanal approach. The carefully selected grapes are destemmed and gently crushed before being placed in vats. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, allowing for an authentic expression of the terroir. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 10 to 12 months. This process gives the wine its silky texture and subtle aromas, while preserving the freshness and purity of the fruit.
