Tasting notes

The Château Angélus 2024 boasts an intense, youthful, deep purple-red color. The nose reveals profound aromas of black fruit, cedar, and sweet spices. On the palate, the attack is ample, built around remarkably fine tannins, offering a velvety texture. The balance between freshness and concentration is masterful, with a remarkable length that lingers on notes of blackberry and graphite, promising exceptional aging potential.

Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs wonderfully with a Rossini beef fillet, a confit shoulder of lamb or a roast pigeon with truffles.

The Château Angélus vineyard covers 42 hectares at the foot of the slope, a terroir ideally situated facing south. It benefits from clay-limestone and clay-sand soils that promote slow and optimal ripening of the grape varieties. Cabernet Franc, the estate's signature grape, finds perfect conditions here to express its floral freshness and elegant structure. Thanks to sustainable viticulture that respects the ecosystem, and rigorous plot selection, each grape contributes to the creation of an exceptional wine, combining depth, elegance, and longevity.

Owner and history

Today, under the direction of Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, the ninth generation of the founding family, Château Angélus continues to write its story with passion and rigor. With a background in finance and international experience, Stéphanie brings a contemporary vision while preserving the soul of the estate. Under her guidance, Angélus pursues excellence, combining technological innovation, sustainable viticulture, and a constant quest for purity in its wines. This uncompromising commitment makes Château Angélus an undisputed benchmark in Saint-Émilion, honoring a centuries-old heritage while resolutely looking towards the future.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Angélus is based on meticulous precision: each plot is vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Fermentation is followed by extended maceration to extract the full richness of the fruit. The wine is then aged in 100% new oak barrels for 18 to 22 months, which imparts its elegant oak character, complexity, and extraordinary aging potential. The 2024 vintage, the result of painstaking work, displays remarkable concentration and aromatic brilliance, foreshadowing a wine of great aging potential and profound emotion.
