Tasting notes

Château Cos d'Estournel 2024 displays a deep, intense garnet color. The nose reveals great aromatic complexity, blending ripe black fruits, sweet spices, cedar, and toasty notes. On the palate, the texture is dense and structured, with refined tannins and superb freshness. The long, persistent finish evokes graphite and bitter cocoa. A noble and elegant wine, built for aging and special occasions.

Food & wine pairings

Enjoy with a grilled rib of beef, a roast rack of lamb or truffle dishes in sauce.

Producer

The Château Cos d'Estournel vineyard covers 91 hectares in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. It benefits from an exceptional terroir composed of deep gravelly soils resting on a limestone subsoil. These characteristics offer ideal conditions for vine cultivation, particularly on the heights and southern slopes of the Cos hill, where Cabernet Sauvignon (60% of the plantings) thrives. Meanwhile, Merlot, which represents 40% of the plantings, flourishes on the eastern slopes and limestone hillsides, adding richness and balance to the estate's wines.

Owner and history

Since 2000, Château Cos d'Estournel has belonged to Michel Reybier, a visionary entrepreneur with a passion for fine wines. Under his leadership, the estate has undergone significant modernization, notably with the construction of a state-of-the-art gravity-flow winery. Reybier has preserved the estate's soul while striving for ever-greater excellence. He ensures that each vintage expresses the strong identity of the terroir, within a sustainable and responsible approach. His commitment is also evident in his constant attention to the vineyard, the winery, and the presentation of the wines, always respecting the Cos d'Estournel style.

Vinification and aging

To produce the château's flagship wine, only vines over twenty years old are selected. The winemaking process is carefully tailored to the specific characteristics of each vintage. Thanks to its modern and innovative winery, Château Cos d'Estournel favors gravity-flow winemaking, ensuring gentle and respectful handling of the grapes. Aging takes place in new oak barrels, enhancing the aromatic richness and potential of these exceptional wines.
