Located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, on the left bank of the Médoc, Château Talbot is one of Bordeaux's most iconic names. Classified as a Fourth Growth in the 1855 classification, this historic estate is distinguished by the consistency of its wines and its strong identity. Its Günzian gravel terroir, bordering the Gironde estuary, offers optimal drainage and perfect grape ripeness, giving the wines elegance, finesse, and aging potential. Château Talbot embodies the perfect balance between Médoc tradition and modern winemaking, appealing to both connoisseurs and collectors.

Tasting notes

Château Talbot 2024 red wine displays an intense garnet color with purple highlights. The nose opens with ripe aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, and blond tobacco, enriched by a subtle touch of oak. On the palate, the attack is ample, supported by a beautiful tannic structure with fine, well-integrated tannins. The whole is balanced, with a long, persistent, and fresh finish, underscored by an elegant and refined aromatic complexity.

The Château Talbot vineyard covers 110 hectares in a single block within the Saint-Julien appellation, on a terroir of deep gravel over a clay-limestone subsoil. This perfectly drained soil promotes deep root growth and water regulation. The grape varieties, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, express themselves fully in this warm terroir, producing powerful and elegant wines. The vines, whose average age exceeds 40 years, are cultivated using sustainable viticulture practices, allowing for a faithful expression of the terroir while preserving the environment.

Owner and history

Château Talbot has belonged to the Cordier family, one of the oldest wine merchant and landowner families in the Médoc, for over a century. Today, under the direction of Nancy Bignon-Cordier, the estate has modernized its facilities while respecting its historical roots. Its commitment is based on the constant pursuit of quality, through sustainable viticulture and meticulous care at every stage of winemaking. Driven by an experienced team, the estate's vision combines respect for the terroir, technical precision, and Bordeaux elegance, making Château Talbot a reliable choice among the classified growths of Saint-Julien.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Talbot is based on a classic and rigorous approach. The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by a precise sorting of the berries. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, grape variety by grape variety and plot by plot. Aging, lasting 14 to 16 months, occurs in French oak barrels, approximately 50% of which are new, imparting finesse and structure.
For the 2024 vintage, this rigor has resulted in a precise, concentrated and harmonious wine, true to the Talbot style: accessible in its youth, but built to age gracefully.
