The Château La Mission Haut-Brion vineyard covers just over 25 hectares, primarily planted with red grape varieties. Located on gravelly slopes typical of Pessac-Léognan, it rests on soils composed of deep gravel mixed with clay and sand, overlying a limestone subsoil. This exceptional, perfectly drained terroir promotes a slow and even ripening of the grapes, essential for producing great wines with aging potential.

Owner and history

Château La Mission Haut-Brion has belonged to Domaine Clarence Dillon, the company that also owns Château Haut-Brion, since 1983. Headed by Prince Robert of Luxembourg, this family-run estate has distinguished itself through a constant commitment to excellence and innovation. The Dillon family's vision is based on absolute respect for the terroir, cutting-edge winemaking expertise, and a continuous pursuit of perfection. Thanks to significant investments in the cellars and a highly skilled team, the estate has elevated its wines to the ranks of the most sought-after in the world, brilliantly embodying the elegance and power of Bordeaux.

Vinification and aging

At Château La Mission Haut-Brion, winemaking combines tradition and innovation with a precision worthy of the finest wines. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks, with pump-overs adapted to each batch, to extract finesse and balance.
For the 2024 vintage, the wine is aged for 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels, a significant proportion of which are new. This process allows the wine to gain complexity, structure, and aging potential. Each barrel is carefully selected to complement the fruit expression without overpowering it. This 2024 vintage promises exceptional longevity, with a dense, refined profile, marked by the precision of the winemaking process. Aging on fine lees adds richness and beautiful depth, while gravity-fed racking respects the wine's structure. The whole reflects the estate's ongoing pursuit of excellence.
