Château Beychevelle, located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation on the prestigious left bank of the Médoc, embodies the excellence of great Bordeaux wines. Classified as a Fourth Growth in 1855, this historic estate fascinates as much for its majestic architecture as for the exemplary consistency of its wines. Its vineyards along the banks of the Gironde estuary benefit from an ideal microclimate and gravelly soils that promote optimal grape ripening. With the 2024 vintage, Château Beychevelle perpetuates its refined and harmonious style, balancing controlled power and freshness, in a wine that is at once profound, structured, and built for long aging.

Notes and pairings

Notes and pairings

Tasting notes

Château Beychevelle 2024 reveals a deep garnet color with purplish highlights. The nose opens with expressive aromas of ripe black fruit, cedar, and violet, accompanied by subtle smoky notes. On the palate, the attack is dense, supported by a fine and elegant tannic structure. The wine is well-balanced, leading to a long, persistent, and refreshing finish, typical of great Saint-Julien wines destined for aging.

Food & wine pairings

Spanning 250 hectares, 90 of which are dedicated to vines, Château Beychevelle rests on Garonne gravel soils, ideal for the noble grape varieties of the Médoc. With a planting density of up to 10,000 vines per hectare, the vines, averaging 30 years old, benefit from a unique terroir influenced by the proximity of the Gironde estuary. Predominantly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented by Petit Verdot, the vineyard expresses a perfect balance between power and elegance, enhanced by sustainable farming practices.

Owner and history

Château Beychevelle is now owned by Grands Millésimes de France (a subsidiary of Castel and Suntory), which has modernized the estate while respecting its centuries-old history. Led by Philippe Blanc since 1995, the team is dedicated to expressing the quintessence of the Saint-Julien terroir with rigor and elegance. The complete renovation of the facilities in 2016 allowed them to reach an even higher level of excellence. A sustainable vision, technical innovations, and rigorous plot selection result in a Grand Cru Classé that captivates wine lovers worldwide with its consistency and depth.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Beychevelle is an art where innovation and tradition blend harmoniously. The new winery, designed with a plot-by-plot fermentation system and gravity-flow loading, allows for bespoke vinification for each individual parcel. Aging in French oak barrels, some of which are renewed annually, guarantees subtle woody aromas and a refined tannic structure. This meticulous approach reveals the complexity and depth of the wines, while respecting the unique identity of each vintage.
