The Château Lynch-Bages vineyard stretches across the gravelly soils characteristic of the Pauillac appellation. These soils, composed of gravel and sand over a clay-limestone subsoil, ensure optimal drainage and excellent grape ripeness. The vines, averaging 30 years old, benefit from a temperate microclimate thanks to the proximity of the Gironde estuary. The estate practices sustainable viticulture, combining respect for biodiversity with precise interventions to preserve the quality of the soil and the grapes.

Owner and history

Château Lynch-Bages has belonged to the Cazes family since 1939. Under the direction of Jean-Michel Cazes, and later his son Jean-Charles, the estate experienced a spectacular renaissance, becoming one of Pauillac's leading names. With a visionary approach, the family invested in state-of-the-art winemaking equipment and implemented sustainable viticulture practices. Committed to preserving and promoting the Médoc heritage, they embody the finest elegance of Bordeaux. Their rigor, passion, and exacting standards have elevated Lynch-Bages to the status of a Bordeaux icon.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Lynch-Bages blends tradition and modernity. The grapes are harvested by hand before being carefully sorted. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for precise temperature management. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, 70% of which are new, for 18 months. This aging process imparts a refined tannic structure and subtle woody aromas that harmonize perfectly with the richness of the fruit.
