Located in the heart of the Taravo Valley in Southern Corsica, Domaine Comte Abbatucci is one of the island's most emblematic wineries. Nestled in the hills above the village of Alata, this historic estate bears the name of a line of Corsican patriots and perpetuates the winemaking heritage with a deep respect for the terroir and indigenous grape varieties. Jean-Charles Abbatucci, the current owner, cultivates his vines biodynamically with an artisanal philosophy and a constant pursuit of excellence. His wines, particularly Faustine Vieilles Vignes, captivate with their elegance, precision, and profoundly Corsican identity.

    Notes and pairings

    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

The wine is a brilliant, clear, and vibrant ruby red. The nose opens with aromas of wildflowers, fresh red berries, and maquis herbs. On the palate, the attack is delicate, with a lovely freshness that balances the fruit's finesse. The texture is silky, supported by fine tannins and an elegant, persistent, and slightly saline finish. A pure and refined expression of the Corsican terroir.

    Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs perfectly with grilled lamb with herbs, veal with olives or quality Corsican charcuterie.

The Domaine Comte Abbatucci vineyard stretches across the granite slopes of the Taravo Valley, at an average altitude of 100 to 200 meters. The old vines destined for the Faustine cuvée are rooted in poor, granitic, and sandy soil, giving the wine its minerality and finesse. Cultivated biodynamically, these plots precisely express the essence of the Corsican terroir in a preserved, low-yield environment.

    Owner and history

Jean-Charles Abbatucci represents the seventh generation of this family, deeply rooted in Corsican history. Trained in modern viticulture but committed to ancestral wisdom, he has been working since the 2000s to preserve indigenous grape varieties and enhance the terroir of his region. His dedication to biodynamic farming, his respect for living organisms, and his exacting standards make the estate an essential benchmark, where tradition and innovation combine to create exceptional Corsican wines.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at the estate is gentle and respectful, with spontaneous fermentations using indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place primarily in truncated conical wooden vats or large oak casks, allowing for natural micro-oxygenation.
For the Faustine Vieilles Vignes cuvée, aging lasts approximately 12 months, without new oak, in order to preserve the expression of the fruit and terroir. The wine is neither fined nor filtered, to retain all its authenticity.
