Château Angélus , an emblem of the Saint-Émilion appellation, embodies Bordeaux excellence. Nestled on clay-limestone slopes, it produces wines of great complexity and finesse.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Maurice de Boüard de Laforest inherited the family estate, which he enlarged in 1920 by adding a three-hectare enclosure, named l'Angélus, under the influence of his wife. Elisabeth Bouchet. She will manage the estate after her death and pass it on to her children.

This special cuvée was first produced in 2016 and is only made in exceptional vintages. 2022 is the 5th vintage produced, with only 2478 bottles made.

This vintage comes from the oldest Cabernet Franc plots on the estate and is distinguished by aging for 22 months in large oak casks.

No detail is overlooked: Each bottle is numbered on the back label, the neck is waxed, and the wax comes from the estate's own bees. The bottle is presented in a light oak box lined with tan leather. A leaflet in French and English is included.

International release Sept. 2025 - Very limited quantity.

The Château Angélus vineyard stretches across hillsides with ideal sun exposure. The clay-limestone soils, rich in minerals, provide perfect drainage, essential for the vines' growth. Each plot is meticulously tended, encouraging deep root systems that give the grapes exceptional aromatic concentration. The region's temperate climate, with its mild winters and sunny summers, contributes to the harmonious ripening of the grapes, guaranteeing a high-quality harvest.

Owner and history

Today, Château Angélus is managed by the de Boüard de Laforest family, who embody passion and a commitment to quality. Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, as co-owner and director, has successfully developed the estate while respecting its heritage. Under her leadership, Angélus has gained renown and prestige, becoming a symbol of Bordeaux excellence. The family is also committed to sustainable development projects, ensuring that the vineyard remains in harmony with its environment.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Angélus is a meticulous art. The hand-harvested grapes are carefully selected before being destemmed and crushed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for optimal temperature regulation. Aging occurs in oak barrels, some of which are new, for a period tailored to each vintage. This crucial step refines the tannins and delicately integrates the oak notes, while preserving the integrity of the fruit.
