Owner and history

Historians have identified all the owners who have succeeded one another on the lands of Calon since the 12th century. The Gascq, Ségur, Dumoulin, Lestapis and Gasqueton families are the most recent and best known. In 2012, the Gasqueton family sold the Calon Ségur and Capbern castles to Suravenir, a subsidiary of the Crédit Mutuel Arkéa group. Jean-Pierre Denis, its president, partnered with Jean-François Moueix and his son Jean, owners of the Videlot group. Together, they undertook a renovation worthy of its prodigious heritage.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Calon-Ségur It is a meticulous art. The grapes are harvested by hand, then carefully sorted to retain only the very best. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for precise temperature management. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, to enrich its aromatic complexity and structure. Each step is carried out with particular care, respecting the traditions of the Bordeaux vineyards.
