The Château Talbot vineyard stretches across clay-gravel soils, typical of the Saint-Julien region. This composition ensures excellent drainage, essential for the quality of the grapes. The vines, averaging 40 years old, are planted on well-exposed slopes, benefiting from optimal sunshine. The temperate oceanic climate, with its maritime influences, contributes to the harmonious ripening of the grape varieties, while preserving the acidity necessary for the wines' balance. Each plot is meticulously tended to best express Talbot's unique terroir.

    Owner and history

Château Talbot is now managed by the Cordier family, who have preserved its heritage while modernizing winemaking practices. Under their stewardship, the estate has experienced a renaissance, blending time-honored traditions with innovative techniques. Their passion for viticulture and commitment to quality are evident in every bottle they produce. The family is also dedicated to sustainable practices to protect the terroir and the environment, ensuring the future of this grand cru for generations to come.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Talbot is a meticulous process, beginning with the hand-harvesting of grapes at their peak ripeness. After rigorous sorting, the berries are destemmed and crushed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for precise temperature management. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, one-third of which are new, for approximately 15 months. This crucial stage imparts the wine's aromatic complexity and structure. The final blend is carefully crafted, aiming to reflect the estate's identity and the expression of each vintage.
