Tasting notes

Château L'Evangile 2024 displays a deep, garnet-hued color. The complex nose opens with notes of ripe black fruit, sweet spices, cocoa, and fine oak. The palate is ample and silky, with a dense texture perfectly balanced by a fresh structure. The fine, elegant tannins linger in a long, persistent finish, underscored by a mineral touch. An exceptional Pomerol, powerful and elegant, with a promising future.

Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs perfectly with a beef Rossini fillet, a confit lamb shoulder or a cep mushroom risotto.

Producer

The Château L'Evangile vineyard covers approximately 22 hectares in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, in a prime location between Petrus to the north and Cheval Blanc to the south. Its soils, composed of gravel and deep clay, promote slow and complete ripening of Merlot, the king of grapes on the Right Bank. The biodynamic approach adopted by the estate allows for a pure expression of the terroir while fostering biodiversity. Thanks to meticulous work in the vineyard, the grapes reach optimal quality, ensuring the production of complex, powerful wines with great longevity.

Owner and history

Since its acquisition by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in 1990, Château L'Evangile has benefited from the expertise and standards of excellence of this renowned wine group. Under the direction of Saskia de Rothschild, the estate is resolutely committed to sustainable viticulture, having begun its conversion to biodynamic farming several years ago. The modernization of the facilities and meticulous attention to detail in the vineyard and the cellar have further elevated the quality of the wines. This long-term vision, guided by the pursuit of balance and precision, places Château L'Evangile among the elite of Pomerol's Grand Cru wines.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château L'Evangile is carried out with the utmost respect for the vineyard plots, with fermentations in temperature-controlled concrete tanks. Extractions are gentle, favoring finesse and balance.
The 2024 vintage benefited from 18 months of aging in French oak barrels, 50% of which were new, allowing for a perfect marriage of fruit and wood. This extended aging process refines the tannins, enriches the structure, and adds complexity to the wine's aromatic profile. With each vintage, the meticulous winemaking reflects the estate's ambition to produce an exceptional wine, true to its terroir.
