Spanning 10 hectares, the Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion vineyard enjoys a privileged location. The plots, divided between gravel, clay, and sand, form a geological mosaic ideal for the estate's unique grape varieties. Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grow in harmony, guided by the natural affinities of the soils. This exceptional terroir is enhanced by a preserved ecosystem, where the ponds and the Peugue stream contribute to the optimal ripening of the grapes. Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion, a veritable garden in the city, thus offers unique conditions for producing wines that are both complex and elegant, perfect reflections of the Pessac-Léognan appellation.

Owner and history

Since its acquisition in 2010 by Patrice Pichet, Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion has undergone a true renaissance. This passionate wine enthusiast surrounded himself with a talented team, notably director Guillaume Pouthier, to redefine the boundaries of excellence. Together, they invested in an ultramodern winery designed by Philippe Starck, a symbol of audacity and precision. Their vision is based on demanding viticulture, bespoke winemaking, and a profound respect for the terroir. This unwavering commitment to innovation and quality has elevated Les Carmes to the ranks of Bordeaux's most coveted and unique estates.

Vinification and aging

The winery at Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion, inaugurated in 2016 and designed by Philippe Starck and Luc Arsène-Henry, exemplifies a relentless pursuit of excellence. This modern work of art houses state-of-the-art facilities, tailored to each stage of winemaking. The meticulously sorted grapes are transferred to wooden, stainless steel, or concrete vats, allowing for customized fermentation. The wines are then aged in 300 barrels, submerged in ideal conditions in the cellar's basement. This precise process, combining innovation and respect for tradition, allows the full expression of the richness and uniqueness of each vintage, guaranteeing wines of impeccable quality.
