Emilien 2019 is a marvel of suppleness and finesse. Its nose is fruity with aromas of ripe red fruits, predominantly blackcurrant and redcurrant, as well as burnt almonds, sometimes mushrooms and undergrowth. The palate is silky, full, and delicate, with velvety tannins and a long, pleasantly complex finish.
Emilien can be drunk young, thanks to its velvety tannins, but it is also a wine with great longevity.
Terroir : Produced from vines planted with 85% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec, and 1% Carménère. The vineyard stretches across the Coteau des Merveilles, the highest point in the Gironde, where Pascal Amoreau cultivates a wine-growing ecosystem dating back over 400 years (since 1610). The limestone plateau is a source of life, as evidenced by a natural cut in the soil beneath the mysterious cromlech.
Viticulture : Le Puy is in a global approach called by ecosystem integrating the principles of agrobiology, biodynamics (Ecocert and Demeter certifications), elements of agroforestry and permaculture.
Winemaking : Natural fermentation by infusion using indigenous yeasts, without filtration or fining. Emilien is a wine obtained by settling in 50-hectoliter casks for 12 months and in 225-liter barrels (not new) for 12 months. A truly unique style in Bordeaux!
