    Owner and history

The vineyard covers 113 hectares and benefits from exceptional terroir. The vines are planted with two grape varieties: Sémillon (75% of the area) and Sauvignon Blanc (25% of the area). The soil composition is gravel, clay subsoil, and limestone.

    Vinification and aging

The cultivation methods at Château d'Yquem are very traditional. The soil is amended only with farmyard manure, on just 20 hectares per year. The vineyard is never chemically herbicided. In the winery, meticulous attention is paid throughout the entire winemaking process. Gentle pressing is carried out, followed by precise settling, and fermentation begins at a controlled temperature. Aging on the lees continues in oak barrels (30% new), with regular stirring over a period of ten months. The final blend is then created, predominantly with Sauvignon Blanc and a small amount of Sémillon.
