The vineyard of Château Ferrière The vineyards extend across gravelly soils, characterized by their exceptional drainage and heat retention, thus promoting optimal grape ripening. The vines, several decades old, are cultivated with care, respecting sustainable practices. climat The temperate climate of the Bordeaux region, with its oceanic influences, allows for quality viticulture, where each vintage reveals the unique terroir of Margaux. The diversity of the plots contributes to the complexity of the wines, while preserving the authenticity of the place.

Owner and history

In the late 1980s, after almost 300 years in the hands of the Ferriere family, another Bordeaux family, the Merlaut family, became the owner. Bernadette Merlaut-Villars set about restoring it to its former glory. Following the accidental death of Bernadette Merlaut, her daughter Claire prematurely took over the reins of the estate. She was only 25 years old. Proving herself a passionate and forward-thinking winemaker, she in turn imposed her own style and made the Château Ferriere, the turning point of biodynamic agriculture.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Ferrière It is a meticulous process, combining tradition and innovation. The grapes, carefully harvested by hand, are sorted to retain only the very best. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, allowing for precise temperature control and optimal aroma extraction. The wine is aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, to impart complexity and structure. This care taken at each stage of winemaking contributes to the creation of wines of great finesse, a true reflection of the Bordeaux terroir.
