History of the estate

The Alessandria family at the heart of the estate

The historic cellar ofBaroloappeared at the beginning of the 19th century. It won numerous prizes in agricultural competitions before being bought by theAlessandria familyin 1870. Today, the estate is run by Gian Battista, his wife Flavia, his brother Alessandro and his son Vittore. They are the heirs and ambassadors of the family's winemaking tradition and passion.

They own a vineyard on beautiful plots of land, knowing that great wines are born first and foremost in the vine. Very quickly, the family distinguished itself through its expertise and its very elegant wines. It has become a symbol ofBarolothanks to its historic cellar and the quality of its classic vintages.

The Fratelli Alessandria vineyard

Barolo, an exceptional terroir

Even if theNebbioloWhile cultivated, certain local varieties also hold pride of place in the vineyards: Dolcetto, Barbera, Pelaverga, Favorita, and Chardonnay. The vineyard extends over 12 hectares in some of the finest crus ofVerduno and Monforte:

  • THEBarolocomes from a blend of different vineyards: Gramolere, Pisapola, Riva Rocca, Campasso, Rocche dell'Olmo and Boscatto
  • HASMonviglierois considered the grand cru ofVerdunoThe hill faces south and rises to an altitude of 300 meters, forming a natural amphitheater. The family owns 1.4 hectares of this renowned vineyard. The vines are 40 years old.
  • Gramolereextends over a hilly strip between 470 and 350 meters in altitude

These plots are cultivated with the utmost respect using traditional grape varieties.

The style of the wines

A family and traditional know-how

The family developed an unconditional love for theLangheThanks to their solid winemaking experience, exceptional terroir, and the use of technological and oenological innovations, they produce wines of exemplary quality. The wines express the typicity of the terroirs and the authenticity of each grape variety, while respecting historical regulations.BaroloIndeed, according to regulations, the aging process must legally last a minimum of 36 months (24 of which are in oak barrels and the remainder in the bottle).   • THEBarolo Gramolereoffers all the features ofBarolowith its classic and complex notes of leather and licorice. Added to this are typical terroir notes such as delicate hints of aromatic herbs.
  • THEBarolo MonviglieroIt is very complex and intense. A few years of aging will allow its full aromatic range to be revealed.
