Family Heritage and Continuity

In 1880,Joseph Drouhindecides to found his wine house in Beaune. His son, Maurice, then takes over. He endows theJoseph Drouhin Housefrom his own vineyard. Maurice Drouhin will also acquire various plots in exceptional appellations such as theClos de Vougeotand theClos des MouchesRobert Drouhin, his son, took over the estate in 1957. He, in turn, made several acquisitions in Chablis that proved to be true gems. A pioneer of sustainable Burgundy viticulture, he founded the House's oenology laboratory. It is managed by Laurence Jobard, the first female oenologist at the House.BurgundyThe House, its expertise, and its values ​​are passed down from generation to generation. Robert and Françoise Drouhin's four children are taking over the estate. Philippe, Véronique, Laurent, and Frédéric are embarking in their turn on the quest for excellence.

Balance and harmony

Maison Joseph Drouhin places great importance on respecting its terroir, its vines, and the environment. This is why it has chosen organic and biodynamic farming. All the care given to the 73 hectares of vineyards is carried out using 100% natural products. As a result, the estate's land is balanced and harmonious. This approach stems from deep convictions; the estate's motto is to provide natural solutions to natural problems. Horses are used for plowing, the soils are grassed and treated with natural compost. In this way, the terroir expresses itself in the most authentic way. Furthermore, production yields are intentionally low. This allows Maison Joseph Drouhin to fully control the quality of its vines and, above all, preserve their genetic heritage. The grapes also receive meticulous attention: the harvest is 100% manual to protect the fruit.

The estate also includes several historical sites that bear witness to its quality throughout the ages. These include, for example, the Cuverie des Chanoines de Beaune (Winery of the Canons of Beaune), the Cellier des Rois de France (Cellar of the Kings of France), the Moulin de Vaudon (Vaudon Mill), the Caves de la Collégiale (College Cellars), and the Celliers des Ducs de Bourgogne (Cellars of the Dukes of Burgundy).
