The secrets of Domaine Rostaing

René Rostaing has owned 1.5 hectares of vines in the appellation since 1970 Côte-Rôtie and more specifically in Blonde Coast and on the land of La LandonneIt was through inheritance that this great winemaker acquired the rest of his vineyard, which now covers 7.5 hectares. He notably inherited superbly situated plots from his father-in-law, the renowned Albert Dervieux. Let's not forget his vineyard of Condrieu and in the Languedoc. At the heart of the appellation Côte-Rôtie, Its vineyard is located on 20 plots, spread across 14 different sites. Its three cuvées are all cultivated identically in order to highlight the typicity of each terroir. There vintage Ampodium (the Latin name for the village of Ampuis), was formerly known as Cuvée Classique. It is a skillful blend of 13 parcels, 100% Syrah. It wonderfully combines finesse, elegance and fruitiness. Only four producers have plots on La Landonne. THE Domaine Rostaing It offers a beautiful reflection of this great terroir. A robust and muscular wine, yet with a velvety texture and elegant character. This 100% Syrah production amounts to fewer than 600 cases per year. An excellent wine for aging, which deserves a good 10 years in your wine cellar before offering its full potential. In addition to its Côte-Rôtie, THE Domaine Rostaing produces an excellent blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Grenache (70%, 15%, and 15% of the blend, respectively) that should not be overlooked. Located near the Pic-Saint-Loup appellation in the Coteaux du Languedoc, the Puech Noble received a 90 from Robert Parker who describes it as offering excellent value for money.
