    Tasting notes

The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin displays a brilliant ruby color with garnet highlights. The nose is captivating with aromas of black cherry, redcurrant, white pepper, and forest floor. On the palate, the attack is supple, driven by a lovely freshness, then opens up to reveal a delicately textured body, balanced by fine tannins. The finish lingers with spicy and floral notes, offering a faithful and vibrant expression of the Gevrey-Chambertin terroir.

The Gevrey-Chambertin vines of Domaine David Duband are rooted in the limestone and marl soils typical of the Côte de Nuits. The Pinot Noir vines benefit from excellent east-southeast exposure, promoting slow and even ripening of the grapes. The plots are cultivated without synthetic herbicides or pesticides, according to organic farming principles, in order to preserve soil health and authentically express the unique character of the terroir.

    Owner and history

At the helm of the family estate since 1991, David Duband embodies a generation of committed winemakers, blending traditional expertise with a contemporary vision of viticulture. Trained in Burgundy and passionate about Pinot Noir, he has progressively converted the estate to organic farming. His minimalist approach, both in the vineyard and the cellar, aims to reveal the full expression of the terroir in his wines. This commitment is reflected in sincere, vibrant, and consistently balanced wines.

    Vinification and aging

David Duband's winemaking prioritizes elegance and precision. The grapes are partially destemmed, then fermented naturally with indigenous yeasts.
This 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin is aged for approximately 14 months in oak barrels, a limited proportion of which are new (around 30%), so as not to overpower the fruit expression. This judicious aging allows the wine to develop fine tannins and a beautiful aromatic complexity while retaining its freshness.
